📝 Detailed Review

The ecosystem of email clients is a strange territory. While the majority of people use email in the web or pre-installed OS mail programs as Apple Mail or Outlook there is a niche of highly specialized clients as for certain email providers (Mimestream), for keyboard maniacs (Superhuman), AI friends (Spark). Some of them incl. Outlook & Spark catch all emails on their servers to deliver their features. There are more traditional clients as Thunderbird, Mailmate and EM Client, but their look and feel is a bit old-fashioned.

MailMaven is a bit of fresh air in this environment. It lets you import your email accounts directly from Apple Mail, but even with the manual setup (five accounts in my case) the setup is quick & easy. The UI feels slick and modern, and browsing and searching your emails feels responsive and stable. That's not to underestimate: The search function of many clients is very limited and slow, for me, it's always a gamble to find an old email in Outlook.

Mailmaven is still in Beta, but the app feels quite mature and stable since the last version. You can see that there is an experienced team here with some interesting ideas, like the Conversation View and a focus on strong color coding. I also like the very customizable Smart Mailbox, that is effortless to adjust.

The current pricing of USD 45.00 per year is just right, the renewal price of USD 75.00 is a bit steep in my opinion. But you can continue to use Mailmaven even without a renewal after one year, just without updates.

There is a 15-day trial and I strongly recommend to give MailMaven a chance. It really grew on me in daily use, so I switched from eM Client and give it a go for one year.
